Dog Park Blues
We've been trying to get Dippy used to going to the Dog Park. It's close. It's big. I figure she can run around, get socialized, get exercise, and I can get some work done when we get home and she crashes. Well... that was the theory.
First of all, we don't like the dog parks. There are other dogs there and it's scary.
Second, we found out what happens when Shibas get nervous. They drool. Ropes. Slimey, sticky, disgusting puddles of drool. No wonder the other dogs don't want to play with her.
Tonight was our fourth trip and she's getting better. She actually ran with a little pack tonight. It was very cute because there was a 10-month-old basenji and a sheltie puppy. All the same size and colors. Very cute. Even the big dogs are scaring her less. I don't think the drool has died down but if she runs around enough it's not as obvious because it flies off of her as it comes out.
The dreaded date is finally set. Next Wednesday, September 28th, we're spaying her. I'll give you the update then. Hope for the best for us!
